I’ve booked my session. What happens next?

Following booking (signed contract, payed deposit, & completed questionnaire), we’ll chat about wardrobe, location and styling. Wardrobe can go one of several ways. When I shoot other photographers, most have a general idea of what they want to wear already. When I shoot new clients, they have no idea where to start. My seasoned clients know to send me updated sizing for everyone and that they can show up while I’m there to take care of all their wardrobe. No matter where you fall on this scale, I am here for you. I have an in depth. styling guide that can steer you in the right direction on wardrobe, should you want to handle your family’s wardrobe, or a studio stocked full of magical unicorn dresses that fit a variety of mom bodies, and children clothing ranging newborn to size 12.

What kinds of locations are available?

Location, location location! I love this part. We can shoot at the beach or creek in the heat of summer, golden fields, red dirt and hills during fall, and grassy hillsides and lake views year round. I also love the unconventional! Wanna shoot at a nostalgic ice cream parlor? A fair? Laundry mat? Your homestead? Sailboat? COUNT ME SO IN.

How long is your gallery turnaround? When will I see sneak peeks?

Gallery turnaround time is 2 weeks, but up to 3 weeks in peak season. I no longer offer sneak peeks to save time and make sure I can deliver your image gallery to you sooner.

What if my kids don’t listen? What it they are wild?

Let me let you in on a little industry secret. Families that radiate love and happiness will have images that radiate love and happiness. Kids will absolutely be wild and tantrums and defiance will likely happen — but they are just a part of the story. Some of my favorite images have come from moments where parents have chosen to embrace the chaos and the wild, rather than scold or resist it.  When you show up as yourselves, surrender, and just BE, just PLAY, that’s when the real magic happens. Forget I’m there, and choose to love each other — let me show you how magical your life can be.

What time will our session be?

About a week prior to your session, I’ll email you a location/meeting details email. Within in it, you’ll find we’ll meet about 1 hour prior to sunset for an outdoor session. Sunrises are also available should that better suit your lifestyle. I won’t photograph your family in most outdoor settings at noon, but exceptions have been made for the unconventional spots like ice cream parlors and urban settings. Studio sessions take place between 8:30am and 3:00pm.



Can I print my photos anywhere?

You absolutely can. But I don’t encourage it and hear me out for a second here.  You’re already spending so much on your session, so why print them at Walmart where the color and print quality will be subpar? Images are color calibrated to my favorite print labs already, and available to you within your gallery for seamless, one click ordering (think no downloading and uploading to another website to order). And print pricing is comparable to most consumer labs out there. In addition, I have searched high and low for some of my favorite product vendors, to bring to you a collection of incredible pieces that perfectly compliment the unique, timeless art that portrays your family. But if you want to print your images elsewhere, yes, it’s allowed. Yes you’ll receive your full resolution images with reproduction release.

What if the weather is bad? What if we are coming in from out of town?

Missouri weather can change on a dime.. As your session approaches, if it looks like unfavorable weather, we will keep a close eye on the forecast. Some of the best and most dramatic sunsets happen surrounding incoming or outgoing storms. Some of my favorite images are taken during overcast skies. But if you’re worried or you’re coming in from out of town we can make a judgment call whenever you’d like, with rescheduling or refund as an option. If you prefer a sunny glow at sunset, and it looks like overcast, I’m open to rescheduling as long as both of our schedules allow for it.

What kinds of sessions are available? Do you offer mini sessions?

I offer full photography services for newborn, maternity, family, children, and couples around the lake area. I also offer elopement photography and travel around the midwest area on occasion when scheduling allows. On occasion I offer mini sessions for special event sessions like glitter sessions and holiday sessions! January-May I offer a half session. All other times of the year, I only offer full sessions.
